FAQ
What is a hackathon?
A hackathon is a free, weekend-long tech event where students learn new skills, build interesting projects, and have fun! We will have free merch, free food, and industry professionals to connect with!
Do I need coding experience?
No coding experience is necessary! In fact, our best hacks have occasionally come from teams of non-CS people.
Can I attend &hacks?
Come to &hacks! Work on a project (whether you have a team or not) to win prizes, or just come for the workshops and good vibes! No pressure; do what you feel. Please note for highschoolers that we are unable to chaperone minors.
Are there rules?
You can use AI at &hacks! More material can be found in the Major League Hacking Code of Conduct.
Can I go solo?
You can go solo or work in a team! Join our discord server to find a team: DISCORD, or attend the team-building workshop at &hacks itself.
What if I don't submit a project?
That's OK! You can still finish it on your own time after &hacks concludes.
When can I start my project?
You can start your project when the schedule comes out! If you decide to continue a previous project, please make sure to be transparent about what you coded during &hacks and what portions were completed prior to the hackathon!
